I had a dream that you were in Santa Cruz, in the Anthro department actually AND you wer Chris' 3rd advisor the one he seems to be having a hard time finding. It was perfect.
If that doesn't work out you should go to DC and change the world. seriously, I would appreciate having you in public policy.
so far the comments have you coming to where the commenter is. i somehow don't think you will be coming to live in sacramento, but maybe bay area? hope you are feeling loved and wanted and popular and its not just for your cute, wonderful wife and kids though they do help to make your family very popular.
next year is so far away. did you know this time last year that you'd be in maine? when we moved to samoa it was one month from find out to move in. like pam, i'm confident there is a plan out there for you. sorry i'm not recommending to come where we are. you'd be posting even more depressing thoughts. and it would do nothing for you professionally. but we would love it!
These places are all on my short list. Hawaii, if I don't get a job (although the logistics of getting rid of everything or moving it all to Hawaii are pretty daunting), Santa Cruz would be my perfect California destination, but I haven't seen any jobs there. I have actually applied to something at UC Davis, so we'll see. I am not holding my breath, but it would be great. Melinda, you guys know I would move to Samoa in a heartbeat. I am also confident that something will work out, although I am not sure what that means. Whenever I have the temptation to panic, inexplicably, I feel like everything is going to be okay. And really, no matter what happens, it will be.

Do let me know when you find out! Can't wait to start the next adventure (and I thought you were so stable when I married you!)
