Why I need an epoxy board.

Happened Saturday morning at Newport Beach. Randomly, the guy who sold me the board (who lives in San Clemente) was on the beach watching, recognized his board, and came over to talk to me as I walked up the beach with the two halves.

too bad, I hope that you find an epoxy board you like for a decent price.

Yet another purchase?
I think I don't know anyone who breaks boards as much as you and Chris. Bad luck?

Hey - I'm Sienna's father in law. I sell epoxy!!!!!!! I believe you (we) could repair the broken board for less than a new one! write if you're interested.

I have fixed broken board before, but it isn't really worth the time and energy for a shortboard, since weight is very important. This one is fiberglass, with polurethane foam, not epoxy. If it was epoxy, it wouldn't have broken. High quality epoxy boards have a layered outside, with some an extruded or expanded polystyrene core, fabric, high density foam, and then an epoxy finish layer. Single layer epoxy, found on some board just trying to capitalize of off the epoxy hype is weaker than the traditional boards and more expensive. the board lady has a nice explanation on her site, with picts, that finally cleared up the confusion for me.

my first epoxy longboard buckled on a 3 foot day in Oregon. the company replaced it free of charge and the replacement has been doing fine. maybe that first one was the single layer style. The replacement was their second year model, which had some upgrades.
